Broomfield Colorado is located
near the intersection of US 36 and State Highway 287, only a few miles
from North of Denver and East of Boulder. It began as an agricultural
community. Tenant farmers worked half the land in dry crops and half in
irrigated farming. Adolph Zang brought in a railroad spur in 1885. Present
day Broomfield combines the advantages of small town living with the
conveniences of a large city. Broomfield finally became its own county in
2001 and is a master planned community.
Quality Location
Broomfield offers a prime location, situated within the north
metro area between Denver and Boulder along U.S. 36/Boulder Turnpike up to
the north I-25 corridor, beyond Colorado 7. Our location offers a short
20-minute drive to both Denver and Boulder, and less than 40 minutes to
Denver International Airport -- a quick trip when friends and family come
to visit!
The local, 24-hour general aviation airport right next door - Rocky
Mountain Metropolitan Airport - is a big business advantage, too.
Quality Education
Innovative, efficient services abound. There are exceptional school
systems, with both public and private offerings, that combine the latest
in education's creative and innovative teaching methods. Higher education
is nearby - CU at Boulder and Denver, Metro State College and Front Range
Community College are just down the road.
A little farther in Greeley, you will find the University of Northern
Colorado and in Fort Collins, Colorado State University. There are
respected private universities in the area, too: Denver University, Regis
University, along with adult-oriented universities like the University of
Phoenix and DeVry University. The average education level for residents of
Broomfield goes well beyond high school, with an estimated 33 percent
having at least a four-year college degree.

Broomfield prides itself on its safe streets, neighborhoods and shopping
areas. Kids can safely walk or bike to parks and recreation amenities, to

Broomfield is committed to the community policing philosophy, so you will
see officers visiting with residents, talking with youngsters in park and
school settings, and visiting with folks at “Coffee with a Cop”
opportunities at coffee houses all around town. This familiarity works to
keep Broomfield’s crime rate one of the lowest in the nation.
Broomfield’s rate of crime has seen a steady decline in this decade, and
Broomfield citizens are less likely to become the victims of crime than in
the past. In the 1980s, the rate of crime was 53 serious crimes for every
1,000 residents. In the 1990s, the rate decreased to 38. In 2006, the
crime rate was 28.6 serious crimes for every 1,000 residents – all this
while the population has steadily increased to the current 52,000-plus.

and Open Space
The Broomfield Open Space and Trails Division acquires and manages
open space, and works to create a comprehensive trail system so that each
citizen has the opportunity to experience the beauty of Broomfield's
natural environment or to walk or bike to a variety of destinations in the
city and beyond. Broomfield has thousands of acres of open space and miles
of trails.
There are currently 63 parks boasting amenities like therapeutic sensory
playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields, park
shelters for fun family gatherings, and more. There is never a time in
Broomfield when someone isn’t out enjoying the beauty of an open space
area, a walk or a run on our trails, a visit to a park, an athletic event,
or just a quiet moment under a tree in a park.
Throughout the city, strategically placed public art offers places for
people to sit and enjoy Broomfield’s dramatic natural environment on
whimsical art benches, or contemplate the drama of the 9/11 Memorial.
Outdoor concerts and cultural activities abound in the summer, and special
events bring the whole community together to celebrate just being in
Broomfield.
Quality Neighborhoods
Broomfield is a city of neighborhoods. The "hometown" feel they
create spills over everywhere in town. Housing opportunities run the gamut

The Broomfield of today is governed by a Comprehensive Plan formed and
adopted in 2005 from the desires of the citizenry. It projects a
population at build-out to be 83,000, and incorporates a strategic plan,
various land use plans known as “sub-area plans,” neighborhood plans, the
long range financial and transportation plans, and Broomfield’s various
utility, art, cultural, parks, recreation and open space master plans.
